I am in my 30′s and very suicidal because of losing my hair….toupees, formualas, ROGAINE, vitamin supplements, physician visits, nothing helps…I decided to never have kids or get martried for this is so embarassing…much like my lack o fbeing able to build muscles…(ECTOMORPH CURSE)–poor genetics….workouts..all routines…heavy on/off days..supplements..nothing eve rhelped….

While several treatment options exist, at the present time, there is no cure, per se, for pattern hair loss. The spectrum of treatment options include pharmacotherapy (i.e. minoxidil and finasteride), non-drug-based options (those that include saw palmetto and other botanicals), surgical hair restoration, and prosthetics (sometimes called “hair replacement systems”). The future of hair loss treatment options will likely add gene therapy, hair cloning, or some combination of these approaches. In the meantime, a person suffering from this disorder is best served by gathering as much objective information as possible, BEFORE making any decisions. The more you know, the better choices you will make.

Could you please tell me what is the best product for that (kerastase or others), also i have heard that there is a new product (black kit, cream plus ampules or something like this), if u know plz tell me i want to cheer her up

Unfortunately, hair extensions can cause further problems if you’re losing your hair, when they tug on the sensitive roots and pull the hair out faster.

Treating from the inside of the body is as important as treating from the outside. I am not sure of the product you’re referring to but, I hope the information below gives you a place to start.

If she is not trying hair supplements, that is a great place to start regrowing hair. Taking between 1000 mcg and 5000 mcg per day of Biotin can give some people results after a month to 3 months. Selenium (no more than 400 mcg per day — more can be toxic) is also good at regrowing hair. These two supplements help encourage hair growth. Zinc, MSM, Vitamin B Complex, iron can also help. A good DHT blocker is important as well. This will help stop the hair fall. Saw Palmetto is a popular herbal DHT blocker, but other herbal and prescription options are available. Taking 1000 mg of L-Lysine with a DHT blocker can help it work more effectively.

Another approach that can be added to these, is using Rogaine hair foam (Rogaine for men makes this, but many doctors will tell you that Rogaine for men is safe for women to use). If she oils her hair but wants to use Rogaine, using Rogaine on the scalp and oil only on the hair will work best. Shampooing with Nizoral shampoo is often recommended as well. It’s an anti-dandruff shampoo, but it can reduce the inflammation of the scalp that can make hair loss worse, and helps Rogaine to work better.

There are also lasers. Yeah, lasers. This is where things start to get really expensive, but it might be an option to look into. Red light laser therapy is thought to improve hair growth and help stop hair fall. Red light laser combs and other at-home devices are available for purchase, and red light laser therapy is available with a good dermatologist or hair growth centers.

There are some dermatologists who are really good at treating hair loss, and others who don’t really know too much about it. But if she hasn’t had any blood work done yet or doesn’t know the reason for her hair loss, you might try that as well.

Question by FF Newbie: Late hair loss (cancer): Is it normal for hair to fall out two months after treatment has ended?
My friend was treated for anal cancer from June – July with radiation and chemo (and is currently cancer free–yeah!). Her hair started to thin at that time, but only slightly. Now (mid October) her hair is falling out in clumps. Is it normal for the hair to fall out this late after treatment?

Usually the chemotherapy makes your hair fall out in clumps so it probably is late, and I’ve seen people being treated with chemotherapy who still have all their hair still. Maybe you should tell your friend to ask her doctor (or doctors) if it’s normal. I’m pretty sure it is, but ask anyways to make sure.
